The application for YSPA 2017 is due at 8:00pm Eastern Time on March 5, 2017.
You must include a current school transcript (including your grades through Fall 2016) with your application. If your school will not give you a copy of your transcript directly, please see our FAQ page for more information how to submit the transcript.
You must have two teachers write letters of recommendation for you. The recommenders will need your full name, accurate E-mail address (preferably the same one you used for the YSPA application) and date of birth. The recommenders will get an automatic E-mail request for a recommendation sent to them once you submit the YSPA application, as long as you have accurately put in their E-mail address. These letters must also be received by March 5, 2017, so be sure to give your teachers plenty of time to fill out the form (we recommend asking your teachers at least two weeks before the deadline).
Students must be rising juniors or seniors in order to attend, and you must apply when you are a high school sophomore or junior.
Students should be available for online self-study starting Monday, June 26, 2017, two weeks before the start of the residential program in New Haven. This online study program will require about 2-4 hours per day of study time, and you will need internet access.
International students are welcome to apply, but applicants must be proficient in English.
Members of under-represented minority groups are especially encouraged to apply.
Full tuition (including academic tuition, room and board, field trips, projects costs, instructional materials, computer fees, etc., but not including travel to and from the program, health insurance, or incidental expenses) for 2017 is $4950.
Need-based financial aid of up to 50% of the full tuition is available for those who are accepted to the program. Financial aid is also available to international applicants. The application for financial aid will be sent to accepted students who have indicated on their application that they would like to apply for financial aid.
If you are admitted, a deposit of $1000 is required by May 1, 2017 to secure your spot. The balance of the tuition is due by Friday, June 23, 2017. Your offer of admission may be withdrawn and you may forfeit your deposit or your full tuition if it is found that you falsified any aspect of your application. In the unlikely event that the program is canceled, you will receive a full tuition reimbursement, including the deposit.
